Valleys to Coast welcomes four new Board members

We are pleased to announce that we have appointed Sharon Lee, Derek Hobbs, Joy Ogeh-Hutfield and Tara King to join our Board. The Board approved the decision at the end of September, and our new members will be joining us from November.

The recruitment process involved our customers, who were invited to help shape our questions and form a tenant panel as part of the interview. Customers shared their views with the wider recruitment panel on who they thought would be the best fit for the role, looking for the right people who will listen and ensure that the customer voice is heard around the Board table.

With skills and experience in a number of areas including people and communities, digital transformation, diversity and inclusion, plus renewable energy, Valleys to Coast is looking forward to welcoming our new Board members to the team.

Meet our new Board members:

Sharon Lee is currently the Chief Executive of Aelwyd Housing, a faith-based housing association operating across South Wales. Sharon is originally from Merthyr Tydfil, but has called Bridgend home for over 20 years. She is actively involved in her local church, volunteering for a range of community projects.

Derek Hobbs is the Director of Digital Transformation Relationships Ltd. A resident of Bridgend, Derek has excellent knowledge and experience in technical, practical and legal aspects of modern digital, marketing plus insight techniques within the public, private and voluntary sectors.

Joy Ogeh-Hutfield is an accomplished, high-performance international trainer and coach. Joy has a dynamic record of success delivering diversity and inclusion, leadership development, executive coaching, and women empowerment initiatives at the senior management level across a broad range of organisations.

Tara King is a Director at KingShipp Sustainable Solutions, an independent advisor for circular procurement, material resource management and renewable energy projects. Tara also volunteers as Chair to a Board of Trustees for a local charity, Sustainable Wales in Porthcawl, plus the Red Cross.

Chief Executive, Joanne Oak said “We are really looking forward to being joined by our new Board members. Having recently launched our Corporate Strategy which maps out our path as an organisation, we’re excited to welcome people with fresh ideas who can help us achieve our Corporate Objectives to create Safe and Happy homes, customers, places and colleagues.”
