Valleys to Coast’s innovative new development offers affordable, energy efficient housing - from start to finish in less than 4 months

Our latest development in Ffordd yr Eglwys will be built using an innovative system which will make energy efficient housing an affordable reality for people in Bridgend.

By using Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs), construction can be completed in much quicker times than by using traditional methods. The super lightweight materials are put together mechanically, eliminating wet trades and meaning that houses can be ready for tenants within a number of weeks, while also being built to last.

While using SIPs to build or build onto properties isn’t a new method, it is a first for social housing in Wales, and could offer a potential solution to the housing crisis currently being faced in the UK due to the speed and low cost of construction.

In addition to the affordability and short construction time, these properties will also be energy efficient thanks to the pre-insulated panels as well as solar panels which will be installed, reducing the cost of bills and helping us tackle fuel poverty.

The two-storey development in North Cornelly will consist of four single-bedroom houses. The semi-detached properties each have gardens to the rear and shared parking at the front.

With works to prepare the site for construction having commenced in January, and projected completion by April; the entire development process is expected to last less than 4 months from start to finish.
