Ty Hafan, which supports families caring for a seriously ill child, was selected as Charity of the Year by us for 2018 and has raised in total £4,566.23.
We committed all our sports and social events throughout the year to raising money for the charity through bake-offs, dress down days, Christmas card donations and their Chief Executive, Donna Baddeley trekked the Sahara desert raising nearly £2000 alone.
Howard Merrett, Chair of our sports and social team said; “It's amazing what we can achieve when we pool all our efforts together. Colleagues nominated Ty Hafan as their chosen charity as they recognise what great work they do, and without their support families would have to struggle to do this alone. We’re working on our Sports and Social calendar for this year and hope to achieve even more money for our chosen charity next year.”
Ty Hafan offers comfort, care and support to life-limited children, young people and their families in the hospice, in the community and in their home so they can make the most of the time they have left together.
Sara Webber, associate director at Tŷ Hafan, said: “It costs over £4million each year to run our hospice, delivering our broad community programmes and providing round the clock specialist care 365 days a year. But we simply couldn’t provide our lifeline services to the families that need them so much without the fabulous fundraising efforts of people like those from Valleys To Coast. Thank you for kindness and generosity”.
