Last December, we supported Tanio Cymru, a local community art organisation based in Bettws at their annual Christmas event – featuring live instrumental and vocal music, crafts to make and take home, carolling, delicious food, and a beautiful grotto with a visit from our Welsh-speaking Siôn Corn.

Supported by one of our developers Hale Construction, the aim was to provide a high-quality, impactful afternoon of holiday joy to folks who may struggle to make it out of the village for festive celebrations.

“Tanio Cymru is a dynamic community arts organisation that provides a platform for residents to creatively get involved with local issues. The cultural well being of our communities forms part of the Future Generations Well Being Goals and Valleys to Coast are excited to support Tanio Cymru with future projects.”

– Rachel Lovell, Communities and Commercial Business Partner at Valleys to Coast

One of the biggest draws to the event was an art installation created by Year 5 and Year 6 pupils at Bettws Primary. Through this thought-provoking piece about diversity, this supports Tanio Cymru’s commitments to providing access to a range of creative activities and interventions – all of which focus on their three core values: igniting community, igniting creativity, and igniting change.

It was a pleasure to join forces with the Hale Developers once again to support a special event that allowed local residents to feel involved, welcome and festive.

“At J.G Hale construction, we are highly committed towards delivering Community Benefit initiatives that will directly result in long-term positive impacts and legacies on the local communities surrounding our projects. We were delighted to provide funding to support Tanio Cymru’s arts’ Christmas project.”

Alicia Stark from Tanio Cymru commented: “This generous funding to support our event will help us pay for crafting supplies, to hire lighting and other equipment to make our outdoor spaces accessible and safe. Last year, A Tanio Christmas saw 85 guests join us, and we believe this year’s event will be even better attended. Thank you for your support, which will have a huge impact on what we can provide for children and families in Bettws during a very difficult winter!”
